The burden of the debt for every American citizen is $175,000 and growing every day. In an age where more and more Americans are carrying massive personal debt, we are borrowing on our future dangerously. I am not asking to cut essential services, but against our...

Get rid of the war, trim the military -- we don't need bases through out the world unless those countries are paying for us --, Go back to 1954 style tax system, bring back the jobs, etc.

I do not disagree with the article or the above comment, BUT it would only be a bandaid. First of all, our debt is not only to foreign countries, but it is a debt to the Federal Reserve. The sad irony in the plannign of our system in the US is that the Federal Reserve is neither federal nor a reserve. It is a private institution. As Americans, we own very littleof our money. Next time you get a pay check, the real truth is that you do not even own the money you just earned in that check. It belongs to the Federal Reserve.

They have not only robbed the Treasury, but they have devaluated the currency which has literally robbed you of about 1/3 of your savings and pension.

Everyone who supported the bogus Iraq War should either contribute money (200,000$) or a soldier from their own family, and that includes the elite, the rich, and the government employees.

If we could just get some of that oil...or, have Iraq pay for our war...I might just support the effort.

All of my friends with large cash savings already put half into gold years ago and have been predicting this scenario for a while. They now say it will get worse, way worse before it gets better.

I am just glad not to be one of the millions of Americans facing foreclosure. I have lost everything twice and it is not a good time in life, but it happens.
