Keep Loaded Guns Out of National Parks »
Posted by: hurr1 1 month, 3 weeks agoThe NRA somehow convinced the government that gun owners should be able to bring loaded firearms into parks. Loaded firearms add the threat of accidental discharge, could increase wildlife poaching and are a risk to park visitors.

Keep loaded guns out of National Parks, of course not!! People need loaded guns in National Parks the same as anywhere else. Not only is there the possibility of being attacked by dangerous wild animals but there are murderers, rapists and thieves in those the same as anywhere else. It certainly isn't unusual to hear about murders and mayhem in those parks.
The United States Supreme Court just ruled that keeping and bearing arms was a Constitutionally protected right. I think that would also include National Parks.
Gun grabbing A$$es.

I suggest you just stay home if you're afraid of being murdered, raped and robbed in a National Park. I notice on your list you seemed to forget to add "shot by some dumb sh!t carrying a gun because he's afraid of his shadow."
And before you go apesh!t, I'm a former armorer and gunsmith. I own more guns than I need, plus a field artillery piece. I just don't feel so inadequate that I need to carry one everyplace I go so I feel like I have a penis.

Did you take this opportunity to brag about your fire power
Psycho? I'm not impressed with your arsenal or your irrational remark. I know a "present armorer" and two gunsmiths and several gun dealers and they totally disagree with you. Also, I bet I know folks who have a lot more guns than you so your expertise isn't appreciated by me.
You have not addressed the idea of self defense in the National Parks you only expressed that you are afraid of being shot in a National Park, if you are, you stay home.
I stand by my statement, gun grabbing a$$es.

Actually, there have been many other cases where civilians with guns have prevented further carnage at the hands of killers. The media isn't fond of reporting these episodes because they don't contribute to the cause of gun control.
The point here is that you are never ever going to get the guns out of the hands of those who want to use them for carnage, even in a national park. Never. In all the years of press releases and statements from the Brady anti-gun organization there has never been one single gun control plan presented that would take the guns out of the hands of criminals. This is the oddity of gun control. Only law abiding people are going to abide by gun control laws. Criminals are not. The anti-gun lobby, and that includes much of the media, will never give any fair coverage at all to the people who use guns to save their own lives, or the lives of others.

I think these ignorant anti gun morons that want to destroy our constitution should move to China or North Korea where they might be more comfortable. The NRA is one of the greatest organization that we have fighting for our freedom unlike communist organizations such as the Brady Bunch.

The National Parks are there FOR THE ANIMAL'S PROTECTION, you idiot gun freaks, NOT FOR YOU TO KILL THEM. Stay out of the parks if you have poaching and murder as your goal.
Or do you just want to shoot a Park Ranger to show what an "outlaw" you are?
By the way, crime in National Parks got worse when GEORGE H.W. BUSH DRASTICALLY CUT THE FUNDING FOR PARK RANGERS TO FUND HIS BOGUS WARS.
Talk to HIM about your safety.

You moron, no one is talking about poaching Bambi in the National Parks. But NATIONAL parks are for ALL Americans, including those of us who are hunters. We stay in one when we are dove hunting. No, we don't hunt doves in the park, it is our campground. The doves are a few miles away in the fields. But we have our guns, ammunition and supplies with us. Several of us also have a personal protection firearm in our rigs that we have permits for. Really stupid to be legal on the road to the park and illegal the moment you enter the park. Take a deep breath and calm yourself

crispy,
Not to dignify your comments with the indignation they cry out for, but part and parcel of the NP mandate is to manage wildlife. The NP system properly opens the parks to hunters for (no pun intended) targeted kills that keep the wildlife from starving. Responsible hunters take only what they eat--nothing more.
Your rant would be better utilized on the crime-ridden streets of B. Hussein's South Chicago where decades of white discrimination cause blacks to kill each other with abandon, or so B. Hussein's spiritual mentor would have YOU believe.

Actually Clinton "DRASTICALLY CUT THE FUNDING FOR PARK RANGERS".
"The National Parks are there FOR THE ANIMAL'S PROTECTION"
Really? I thought they were for all Americans to enjoy and to preserve the land.

Crespi .. -National Parks are for everyone's enjoyment. You'd be surprised by the self restraint of gun owners & shooting enthusiasts. Back in the 80's an old neighbor of mine belonged to a private gun range in the hills near Brea , Calif. It was in the Union Oil Fields. He explained to me that it's target shooting only and that the property was also a game preserve. We were popping away at paper targets when a deer came onto the range. It had NO fear of people and gunfire did not phase it. They had to lure it off the range with pellet food and water so we could go back to shooting.
With confiscation of private property for running drug labs & pot farms this has pushed the criminal element out to the parklands where they have everything to gain & nothing to lose. We have nothing to gain and everything to lose by NOT being armed...

When people hear any thing about the NRA they seem to think that they are nothing but a bunch of rednecks who what to shoot anything that moves which from what I know is not the truth. I don't think that this artical has to do with long guns but more to the fact of hand guns. As for poaching, the people who carry out such crimes don't really care about laws anyway.
I don't sink stories but this is a silly story since I feel that the world is not going to change because of the change in the law.

Until very recently, the NRA was seen by presidents and leaders as a bastion of training and safety in arms. Most of their efforts focus on safety--training individuals, ranges, and others to adopt the latest innovations in safe practices.
Their recent focus on the Second Amendment is a reaction to the assault on our constitutional rights.

Until recently, people routinely kept guns in national parks and wildlife refuges and no one was the wiser, because the vast majority of people are responsible and only use them when necessary for self-defense or in safe situations.
All the recent hoopla over guns is fueled by endless hysteria spread by the Bradys and others who suffer from post-traumatic stress due to a crime. The press loves conflict, so they also keep it alive.
The U.N. is no help as it endlessly seeks to disarm the world's citizens so they have no reasonable means of self-defense.
It's time to end the anti-gun insanity. Never mind that wildlife conservation is funded by hunting and fishing licenses and stamps they must buy.

This comment is from someone who is living under laws regarding the registration of guns and those who own them and it is a line that I have heard many times it is simple but relevant,"never give an inch or they'll take a mile". I was in a machine shop a few weeks ago and the mounties had brought in some guns which had been willed to a family but since the family members had no registrations the guns were illegal and were destroyed.

After Congress passes a law that it is illegal for any animals such bears, timber wolves and cougars to attack humans, as well as for human animals such as rapists, murderers, thieves and pot-growers to violently attack other humans in any National Park
AND
finds a 100 percent foolproof way to enforce said law, then perhaps loaded guns would not be as necessary.
But until then, I have a single (hyphenated) word, followed by two words for all the foolish idealogues and idiotic, mis-guided, radical gun-confiscators:
SELF-DEFENSE!
SECOND AMENDMENT!

Unfortunately, shooting someone requires no more physical effort than lifting a tea cup, unlike, say, fighting someone with a sword or club.
As a result, guns "short curcuit" the link between thought and action, allowing impulsive thoughts to be translated into violent actions before the rational part of the mind has a chance to cool off and think things through.
Guns also increase the physical and psychological distance between shooter and victim, making it easier to forget that the victim is a person, rather than mearly a "target".
Many of the guns used by criminals were taken off the corpses of legal gun owners. This is because, nine times out of ten, when a law abiding gun owner is confronted with a "bad guy", the law abiding person will hesitate to kill, while the "bad guy" will not, especially if the law abiding person is waving a gun at them.

bb, Your assertions are way off. Guns are the only reasonable means of self-protection for women, people with disabilities, the frail, the elderly, and people of short stature from criminals who will usually be larger, stronger, and have the element of surprise going for them. Guns are especially useful in warding off home invaders and car jackers, as well as protecting oneself in national parks.
Most of the time (estimated at approximately 95%), just showing a gun stops the criminal from continuing the illegal act, with no shots ever fired.
Most rapes do not involve guns, nor do child molestations. Most children who are murdered are beaten to death by their parents, most frequently a father or step father. Focusing on guns wrongly takes the focus off these most heinous crimes and the criminals who commit them.

But what if a Park Ranger goes psycho and turns Postal , you know it is a Government Job and has High Stress Levels .
MORON , what a story , God Journalism has gone to the dogs now days .
Everyone in my family knows how to handle a firearm , they may not own one but they know how to fire one .
Ridiculous to think that a gun owner would just drive up in a park and throw their guns out on the ground so all small children in the park could have their pick at which one they wished to kill someone with .
Bah-eliver , bah , must follow .

First of all, bullsht. Secondly, horsesht. What a stupid ass article. Is this ahole really whining about accidental discharge? Just because he has probs with his gun firing off prematurely does not mean that I should not be allowed to hold mine. This jerk should talk to the family of the young girl who was just kidnapped and killed here in the N Ga mountains. And poaching, WTF??? Who the hell would hunt with their side arm? Man this trash ticks me off.

Ah, yes: a man's not a man without a gun. Or several.
And all loaded. At all times.
My goal: to be a walking arsenal. Never know just who are what might be stalking you. When you might run into an infuriated boar.
So you should be ready to shoot to kill.
Always.
