Did Obama walk into a trap on Iraq? »
Posted By pc25 3 months ago in NewsRoger Simon at Politico believes Barack Obama allowed himself to walk into a big trap on Iraq by agreeing to tour the country and talk to the commanders on the ground. Why go at all if Obama planned to stick to his policy of withdrawal? Making the trip concedes that he didn't know what he talking about in the primaries

When he does, how will he explain it? Simon already knows:
A few days later, Obama said all the "confusion" over his Iraq statement was not his fault but rather the media's. "I was surprised by how finely calibrated every single word was measured," Obama said. "I was a little puzzled by the frenzy I set off."
Bad media. (Asking candidates to say precisely what they mean and mean precisely what they say is ruining this country, if you ask me.)

"Obama will have to explain how American voters should trust his judgment on the war when he got the most critical call of it wrong"
but of course he is not wrong, after all is said and done he attributes it to bad media.......how can his judgment on any issue be trusted.........

yeah, I agree. Trying to investigate facts and being willing to change your mind based on them is always a mistake. You should stick to your guns no matter how wrong you are, and desperately avoid seeking more information in case it should prove you wrong.
Hey, can someone wipe up this puddle of sarcasm? There must be a drip somewhere and I think someone might slip and hurt themselves!

The sort of behavior you can expect from any presidential candidate who is constantly pressured to "take a stance" on the issues, when the issues are often nuanced enough to require quite a bit of study to come up with a strong position.
He could accept the position fed to him by his advisors (and perhaps he did, initially) but then should do some studying on his own and be willing to change that position.
No matter what a candidate does, he will be criticized. If he is slow to take a stance because he's looking into the details, he is a 'fence-sitter'. If he makes one too soon, he's 'just pleasing the polls', if he changes his mind after further study he's a 'flip-flopper'.
The right has made this their number one campaign strategy: criticize everything. The left criticizes too, often the same things, but usually in response. Obama seems to have tried to be positive - but when everything thrown at him is negative, once in a while negativity will bounce back.

Wait a minute, once again the libs have nothing to say here? Is it possible they're realizing they've chosen a terrible candidate?

Obama is the only one we Americans can trust on Iraq. Look at McCain`s five years of cheerleading this war, only to confuse Shiite and Sunni, and Iranian and AQ. He is not only too ignorant to be president, he is too stubborn to admit he is wrong. Another spoiled-rotten, no accountability skated through life on Daddy`s coat-tails Dubya. McCain was in Iraq surrounded by an army with a bullet-proof vest on insulting every soldier and military family by claiming how safe it was there.
Obama actually worked for everything he got in life. We need an American president he understands the value of hard work for a change.
McCain threw his wife and mother of three under the bus first chance he got to upgrade to a young bimbo heiress.
McCain is the suck-up punk everybody wanted to beat up in school.

I'm curious lurch. What kind of hard work has OBama done?
Did he work in construction, do actual farm work, road work, was he a rough-neck on a drilling rig, did he sweep floors, dig a ditch, do plumbing, carpentry, masonry work, punch a clock and work OT to pay the bills, bust his nutz starting and running a small business, pulled a tour of duty as a grunt, or some other form of 'hard work'.
All I've ever heard about him working at is getting through an Ivy League school and lets face it, studying and taking exams may be work but it ain't the same as actual physical labor.
So if you know what kind of 'hard work' citizen OBama has done other than school and politics I would like to know. I'm sure others would also.

Obama will say anything to be elected. Today Obama is making fun of former Sen Phil Graham because of remark he made regarding the economy. Obama says the people of the United States need solutions to the bad economy but remember he said, he didn't think gas prices were too high but they just went up too fast.
The problem for Obama is that he has no solutions that would work. Raising taxes and creating a huge new bureaucracy by the government taking over health care will not create a prosperous nation.

IF they tell him all the good that's now taking place in Iraq, will he lie and now say the opposite? Talk about having political pies thrown into his face if it's good news from each commander he talks to. He SHOULD go to Afghanistan. THAT seems to be the last strong-hold of Al Qaeda now where BAD news of the war on terror still seems relatively strong.
