Anti-illegal immigration group wants San Diego highway sign »

When members of an anti-illegal immigration group offered to sponsor litter cleanup on local roads, they never imagined California officials would offer them an Adopt-a-Highway stretch near a Border Patrol checkpoint on Interstate 5, the main artery carrying illegal migrants north from the U.S.-Mexico border.

May 10, 2008, 5:26 p.m.They just bend over backward to protect illegal aliens but not actual Americans.

May 11, 2008, 3:41 p.m.Hey libs!
By your comment are you suggesting that putting up a highway sign is protecting an illegal alien? If so, how?
Please do not misunderstand my intent as I am opposed to illegal immigration and I used to live in San Diego so I've seen it in action. I am just curious about what you meant.
Cheers!

May 11, 2008, 3:46 p.m.Seems to me our time would be better spent if we focus more on what it is that we DO want because we seem to be pretty crystal clear on what it is we don't want.

May 10, 2008, 8:34 p.m.Wow! I never thought that I would be a witness to the destruction of the USA. Where will the illegals go, when the USA is no longer the USA? I have always heard, that one must be careful what one wishes for, because it might just come true!
Thanks libs!

May 11, 2008, 1:53 p.m.Why do you all swallow the party crap that illegal immigration is because of the "libs"? You are so wrong.I am a democrat, and myself and my democrat friends are all anti illegals. After almost eight years of the bush administration doing virtually nothing to stop the flow of illegals how can you be so blind.Cheap labor/anti union/low wages are what is driving this invasion not "Libs".Thank your republican bosses for spinning this into a political fight and not an American fight against the invasion that happening.

May 10, 2008, 9:18 p.m.Well don't surprise me. Look at how much slave labor they gain. And a gruesome thought" BODY PARTS "to keep the rich healthy.

May 10, 2008, 10:40 p.m.This all seems pretty simple to me. If you want to clean up the highways, I'm sure your efforts will be encouraged. If you want to advertise your politics, buy a billboard like everyone else. Why is it even an issue if there have been no negative effects?

May 10, 2008, 11:31 p.m."If you want to advertise your politics, buy a billboard like everyone else."
It's not an advertisement, and plenty of political organizations, Dem and GOP, have adopted highways. If it were a Muslim group, you can bet it would have been left in place.
Besides, what's political about wanting existing immigration laws enforced? Seems like more of a legal matter than political.

May 11, 2008, 1:15 a.m.tkyrchncs,
There are some negative effects here. A group has Volunteered to do this for No Pay what so ever. Their only request is acknowledgment. I guess in your view they are being selfish........even though everybody else that volunteers has their name posted.
"This all seems pretty simple to me." Ya, I agree with ya there!

May 11, 2008, 10:20 a.m.Q: Will our government ever enforce our laws and give the boot to these invaders?
A: Not if the DNC has their way.
-

baddad59
May 11, 2008, 2:19 p.m.Its not the DNC Tang.I promise you that i am as anti illegal as you or any other republican, probably more so.My wife is Hispanic, came here legally, went through the process which took many years, and is a productive citizen of our country and is as anti illegal as any of us.This is a republican party switch and bait game for politics. They go on about how they are anti illegal and the dems are pro illegal while doing nothing to stop the invasion. It would only make sense that if they were so anti illegal on this issue then they would have stepped up and clamped down on the borders, big political feather in there cap had they done that, but they turn the other way so they can import the cheap labor for there business buds.
Bottom line, illegal is illegal and should be prosecuted as such.

Sure did. I see your bigotry is alive and well in suggesting all Sicilians in particular and immigrants in general are criminals.

May 11, 2008, 12:02 p.m.I'm a little puzzled here. What did the sign say? If all it had on it was the name of the group that adopted that portion of the highway, then I fail to see why there's a problem. If there were an actual message, then what was that message?
-

libsRfunny
May 11, 2008, 12:21 p.m.It would have been the standard Adopt-a-Highway sign with the group's name, most likely said, "San Diego Minutemen" or something to that effect. The KKK got to keep their sign. These people are nothing like the KKK and should be able to have theirs, too.

May 11, 2008, 1:16 p.m.And it was the Hispanic Caucus who objected despite no problems the entire time it was posted. Now they have that Hispanic "superdelegate" selling his support for $20 million in pork.

May 11, 2008, 1:58 p.m.Yep, John McCain is right. Just give 'em all amnesty and tell 'em to get their family and friends over here asap. I like the thought of living in a country with a half-billion people. Ignore the fact that the number one thing the Chinese and Japanese complain about is all the other people. America must become crowded too.

May 11, 2008, 6:08 p.m.It was a joint effort to pass the immigration amnesty bill. BOTH SIDES. I didn't like it then don't like it now. I have sent e_mail to my Senators and House. I sure hope you all do also. This is a problem the politicians want to sweep under the rug. We as Americans (and leave the political party out of it )must show our strength and let them know that we mean business. We are the ones that have the power we must stand up to them and make them understand that. "THEY ARE ELECTED ONLY TO BE OUR REPESENATVE NOT OWN THEIR OWN VOICE".This is a time we must e-mail our Senators, House of Representatives, Governors, State Senators, House of representatives and All the Presidental Candidates.
Remember they are suppose to work for us. Not the other way around. Oh GET BUSY.

May 11, 2008, 6:10 p.m.BOTH parties are guilty of not up holding their oath to protect the American people. Since the politicians have alienated the American voters, perhaps they are cultivating new voters that will buy into their self serving agendas. Think about it. Poor, illegal people promised free entitlments and freedom. Might make a person feel obligated to support the party that gives those entitlements.
-

RedRiverJ
May 11, 2008, 8:51 p.m.Neither party has done anything for the American people where illegal immigration is concerned. Our open borders are a free and easy walk for anyone to come into our country, and that anyone includes terrorists. It's all about votes and not offending anyone. They (candidates) 'say just enough' in their campaigns to appease the working american taxpayers all the while they say nothing concrete on the fence and tighter immigration controls. That way they keep the tax payers slightly interested and the families of illegals that can vote interested as well. It's all about votes, to heck with the country, our customs, our sovereignty, or anything else. We are being sold out for votes.
