Of course its an absurdly light sentence for such a heinous crime.
But you can't rewrite laws retroactively to fit the case.
This was an offence which obviously escaped even the imagination of those responsible for writing the highly codified and generally exemplary laws of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. A crime beyond precedent.
At least he WILL be punished and justice will be seen to be done.
A similar case in the US could easily drag on beyond the term of his life-expectancy with lawyers fighting to take on such a high-profile case and keep it running indefintely with motions of one kind or another.
Alternatively some outraged individual would take the law into his/her own hands.
Now what about some appropriate and EFFECTIVE action against those perpetrators of sexual abuse in the US who, on a daily and long-term basis defy all civilised norms, using religion as a cover for their abominable crimes?
Chances are the P.O.S. will die in prison. That may be the only silver lining.
P.O.S?
Poor old sod?
