Take a quick glimpse into a side of the war that the western media will never show you. War is an abomination. Not the heroic thing that old world war II movies and Hollywood imbedded into the American psyche. "WAR is HELL!"

I cannot believe that a major news like this is not even remotely mentioned in CNN or CTV news. Innocent people are being killed by the US army and American people don't even know about it. Why the secrecy? If the US army believes that this is an acceptable side effect of war then they should have no fear of mentioning and let the people decide if it worths it.

avatar
Reply

Possibly it's the same reason we are not allowed to see the caskets of fallen US Soldiers returning home.

take_no_side: "Why the secrecy?"

The story might have been reported, just differently. That's what the spin machine is for. It was probably reported as "dozens of insurgents killed in Sadr city." This reporter said that perhaps 10% of the casualties were insurgents, so the MSM report could have been the truth, just not the whole truth. They rarely report the "collateral damage." Nobody seems to be counting the Iraqis who die and get maimed as a "side-effect" of this occupation.

You got your Bush minister of disinformation on CNN-Tony Snow.

You got your Bush minister of propaganda on Fox - McCain campaigner Carl (TB) Rove.

You got your Bush minister of sleaze and your opportunist lapdog Charles and Steve over on ABC.

You got your drooling moron over at headline news- Glen (kill em all)Beck.

You got your vacuous Katie Couric anchoring CBS. (Where in the world is my integrity?)

How much news are we Going to hear?

Media is the nuclear weapon of the right, all the while they claim it is left biased. Hilarious! But so obvious and so sad.

Maliki, meanwhile, has vowed to disband the Mahdi Army and on Wednesday even accused the militiamen of using civilians as "human shields" while fighting the security forces.

"Criminals and lawless gangs are using human shields in Sadr City ... They are following the steps of the Baathist regime," Maliki said at a press conference earlier Wednesday.

"They are trying to gain sympathy but they are using the lies and the values of the former regime."

Human Shields? Would they (Terrorist elements and insurgent groups) really do that? No say it aint so. Considering they have used mentally challenged individuals to carry our suicide missions I guess it could be a remote possibility.

No one here is disputing that.

The POINT is - that is NOT the whole picture or the whole story.

Of course the media will air a story like this because it favors the Bush administration agenda to show that the Maliki government is supposedly strong and is taking action and is working to take control of the violence and the country.

But you have to remember that Maliki's government was picked by the Bush administration. Yes, people voted, but Maliki - like Bush - can 'appoint' people to government positions. Maliki's administration is rampant with corruption.

Also - don't forget that the Iraqi army is still VERY FAR from being able to function on its own. Even during the Sadr City fighting, many of those Iraqi soldiers didn't fight or didn't show up or ended up being on the side of Muqtada al Sadr or other insurgent groups.

There's a reason why ...

"DISCLAIMER:

"Please note that TRNN transcripts are typed from a recording of the program; The Real News Network cannot guarantee their complete accuracy."

In other words, only a moron would take it as factual. I see there are quite a few gullible types around here. Pretty obvious the "source" is an anti- Iraqi gov't, anti U.S. site. It's about as accurate as Baghdad Bob saying there were no U.S. tanks in Baghdad even as they were rumbling down the streets.

Prove it. Loud mouthed one.

The "Accuracy" was regarding the transcript. The actual news story is on video and if you have a computer that is half way up to date and you don't have a hearing or visual disability, the transcript is not nesessary. Nice try to further spread disinformation. You should work for the Pentagon press release office.

Thanks Jovial that's what I thought!

Did you watch the video?

Have you ever heard the phrase attention to detail?

Did you notice that the small child with a "chest wound"?

The blood is right in the center, right over the heart, did ya see that?

Did ya notice the small child with a "chest wound" had no dust on his/her body?

The video is trying to make the claim that this carnage is due to bombing. Bombing makes dust, lots of it. I find it hard to believe that a child with a chest wound would be washed clean before any medical treatment for a chest wound.

avatar
Reply

Did ya notice that the citizens bringing the child in also has no dust on them or their clothing?

Did they also wash up and change clothing before bringing the child with the chest wound to hospital?

Odd, ya think?

Did ya notice at 1:03 in the video a wounded man on a litter is being rushed into hospital for medical treatment?

Did ya notice he also had no dust on him, his clothing the litter, nada, none.

The message the video it trying to portray is that these are people wounded in the relentless pounding by US air strikes.

Did ya notice the guys carrying the litter? No dust, in fact their clothing looked bran new cleaned and pressed. It even looks like bran new shoes as well! Odd

Did ya notice at 1:11 to 1:13 the guy carrying left rear corner of the coffinâ;¦..is the same guy shirt and all that was on the litter! Same shirt without the blood.

Your right it is all BS. No one is being killed in Sadr city no one is being injured. The US soldiers aren't firing a shot and not killing anyone. Not the bad guys and surely not the good guys.

I hope one day you get over the brain washing that you willing accepted during your military service. Blind patriot is you my friend.

We've been asked to judge this story based on the video, yes?

And if the video is a "Stage production" what does that tell us about the story?

Fake but true is not true it's just fake. Why would someone want to fake the truth?

This video has many markers that point to it being "staged"

Temper tantrum? Back up claim with actual facts. Not a bunch of hot air about not having dust on babies. Do you think people will fall for that crap, again? 7 years was enough.

STAGED just like the "Iraq has WMD" BS that Bush fed to the fools that suck up everything that they see on Fox news as true and just.

STAGED just like the "Iraq has WMD" BS that your hero Colin Powell fed to the fools that suck up everything that they see on Fox news as true and just.

STAGED just like the "MISSION ACOMPLISHED the USA and is allies have prevailed in the war on Iraq that Bush fed to the fools that suck up everything that they see on Fox news as true and just.

Where do you think the "stagers" of this video learned such a deceitful and dastardly technique? From your heroes in the Bush administration, maybe you think, just maybe? It's garanteed! And by the way no US soldiers raped a 14 year old Iraq child and murdered her and her family either.

Keep up the denial and deflection that you and the Bushites worship and dedicate yourselves to.

Im not insinuating anything. I saying this video looks fake, staged, that's why you won't see it on any MSM, they see the same things I do.

Is there any supporting truths that this video is real?

That it was shot in Sadr city? No.

"cognitive dissonance". The guy who's reporting that story is named Pepe Escobar. He's a journalist with major credentials. For him to put out a piece of propaganda against America as you are trying to imply is ludicrous. As is most statements that you make on propeller.

Funny, I thought the same thing until I realized the audio voice matches the video picture of the one talking in it. The disclaimer you refer to is talking about the typed transcript (the subject of the disclaimer). It is not referring to the video and tape, just that it cannot gauranty the transcript of such. Nice try though libsr.

CNN 4-9-2008

Clashes in Sadr City, a Shiite enclave in the capital, has killed 67 Iraqis and wounded 243 since Sunday, and nine U.S. troops have died in Baghdad during the same period.

The Sadr City fighting reflects the intra-Shiite power struggle in Iraq between Iraqi security forces dominated by the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq and al-Sadr's Mehdi Army militia.

The upsurge in violence between Iraqi security forces and the Mehdi Army started with a March 25 government offensive in parts of the Shiite city of Basra in southern Iraq. It targeted what the government calls criminal elements.

War is ugly, no one is denying that. But our enemy can cut off heads on the internet, not a word is said! No outrage, nothing!! If the terrorists cared about there own people. They would leave the cities and wage the war in the open. But they won't. This is good press for them and we here are helping them!! Maybe this is what is needed to expelled them from there towns/cities and force them in the open. And foreign fighters would be ran out of town. I know I d*mn sure would!!

avatar
Reply

They wouldn't show it here. And again I will remind you conservatives the one's lopping off American heads didn't come from Iraq. Do you guys all read from the same talking points?

avatar
Reply

I don't care if they come from Mars. A terrorist is a terrorist. And still YOU defend them. With countrymen like you, who needs an enemy. You just proved my point.

avatar
Reply

Why did we pick Iraq? We could have just as easily invaded North Korea. Who determines what countries are terrorist? That was a extremely stupid statement. I never defended a terrorist I just bring the war to you, so you can quit denying what's going on.

avatar
Reply

I have seen, first hand, what they are capable of doing. This story isn't why we went, so don't change the subject. And yes, you and people like you defend there every action. The terrorist can do no wrong, in your eyes. Who's side are you on? I know we are not perfect but the military bends over backwards, sometimes too far, to limit collateral damage. Mistakes are made , but the enemy does not play by our rules. If terrorist were all caring they would not expose there people to this danger.

avatar
Reply

Why DID we go into Iraq? Who exactly do you think the 'enemy' is in Iraq?

I think you should tell us, because ALL of the justification to invade Iraq from the Bush administration was a bunch of lies.

There were no terrorists in Iraq before we invaded.

There certainly are some terrorists there NOW, because the administration totally screwed up the rebuilding and the containment of violence after they took Saddam out of power.

No one here is "defending terrorists". The insurgents (not necessarily 'terrorists') are definitely causing a lot of death and carnage in Iraq, and they are to blame. They do it because they want control.

Over 90% of the insurgents in Iraq are LOCALS. They are fighting each other - when Saddam's regime was removed, ALL control of those factions was relinquished.

The Iraqi religious factions all want control of the country. They are fighting each other for that control, and they are fighting us because they want US, the occupiers, OUT.

Are you afraid of dying in a car wreck? Probably not, but you are aware it can happen, so you put on a seatbelt. This is no different.

avatar
Reply

Codi, making a preemptive strike on a sovereign nation for no good reason, killing hundreds of thousand innocent Iraqis, bankrupting our nation, and not having any kind of plan how to deal with an increasing volatile world over our actions is hardly any comparison to just putting a seat belt on to be saved in a car wreck. This is all the difference in the world, and you are insane for thinking otherwise.

avatar

We had a good reason. Are you willing to take the word of a mad man? Saddam could had avoided the whole invasion. We could well still be in power. But he called a bluff on a losing hand.

avatar
Reply

Gave you a pos by mistake ...

Didn't have to "take the word of a madman".

There was plenty of evidence that Iraq had NO WMDs by the time Bush took office, let alone when he invaded.

Here is just ONE bit of documentation for you.

Q&A: William Scott Ritter, former United Nations weapons inspector

http://www.memphisflyer.com/memphis/Content?oid...

"The U.S. used the inspection process and the unique access the inspectors had to gather intelligence on Saddam Hussein's security. That process exposed a link between U.S. intelligence-gathering activities and the work of the inspectors. That made the Iraqis very distrustful of the inspection process.

In 1998, I protested to the United States that their interference was destroying the credibility of this operation. In the last year of my work, 14 of my inspections were stopped, not by the Iraqis but by the United States government. That's why I resigned."

avatar
Reply

Also, your own government has proved - via 2 investigations since the invasion - that all of the reasons for invading Iraq were FALSE.
