it hasn't helped that Democrats have routinely blocked oil exploration on public lands. President Clinton's 1995 veto of a bill allowing drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in 1995 is probably now costing us about a million barrels of oil per day. In 2006, Pelosi's Senate Democrats blocked an effort to drill the Outer Continental Shelf for what the Department of the Interior estimates to be 8.5 billion barrels of known oil reserves and 86 billion barrels undiscovered.

The House will finish up another week of work later today – another week that will draw to a close without the Democratic Majority revealing the "commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices" that then-Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) promised in 2006. American families and small businesses are desperately waiting for Speaker Pelosi and other Democratic leaders to finally roll out this plan. Gas prices have hit a nationwide average of $3.41 per gallon according to AAA, experts are predicting that prices will spike even higher within the next month, and the summer driving season isn't even upon us yet.

Since Rep. Pelosi took the Speaker's gavel on January 4, 2007, however, American families have watched the average price per gallon of gasoline soar from $2.33 to $3.53 today, according to AAA.
