Professional Panhandler: Girl Pretends to be Homeless to…

Do No Evil – On any given day, Megan can be found stepping out the side door, sometimes to walk the dog or maybe to talk on the phone. One day she'll go shopping with a nice coat and purse. But most of the time, Megan can be seen, in a dumpy old hooded sweatshirt and backpack, looking the part of a stranded young lady. [Makes about $50 per hour tax-free]

Yeah, this is why I never give money to these bastards. I've seen too many frauds over the years and tell them to get a job. If they get too pushy, I yell at them in a not-so-nice manner.

One thing I have noticed now between living in urban areas in the Midwest and now here in Las Vegas: It's all whites and blacks doing it! I almost never see a Hispanic or have had a Hispanic begging for cash.

I've seen the same guy working the same intersection a week apart, and just this past Thursday I watched some guy collect a few bills while stopped at a light. He's probably pulling in $20-$30 an hour! They just walk between cars with their little cardboard signs and maybe a fake limp, and suckers just hand over the cash.

I don't give anything to panhandlers. My wife and I give to organized charities. If you really want to see some serious beggers, go to San Francisco. Oh my God. It is like an ant hill but the ants are beggers.

There is a panhandler who drives a 94 Benz c class that parks at a gas station and then walks down to the exit ramp by my work. He came up to the window one time and I called him out. He laughed and said I would not believe how much money he makes. Bastard.

I heard people discussing this girl on the radio this morning, and they figure she makes between $200., and $250 a day. My nieces birth mother was on the street, she found her, and she begged her to come stay with her, but she wouldn't. She is in her 50s, and has been on the street for 20 years. She takes her winter clothes, and money, but she is an alcoholic, and she will never get off the street.

Absolutely, I wont give money to them, there was a woman begging and acting crazy in downtown Chicago, and I told her I would not give her money but I would buy her a sandwich.

I took her into a store and she started grabbing everything she could put her hands on, I kept telling her no, but she would stop until I told the clerk that I wouldn't pay for anything but a sandwich and a drink.

I paid for that and walked around the block to a hot dog stand, and lo-and behold, she walked in minute later and the clerk said her order that she called in was ready. she didnt act crazy any more, and she reached into her garbage bag she carried around where there was a huge mound of cash. The look on her face was worth every penny when she noticed me.

This kind of thing is old news unfortunately. About 20 years ago in the area I live a reporter followed a man panhandling at an interstate exit with a sign that said "Will work for food". The man left the place at the end of the day and walked to a nice new car and drove to his home that he lived in. It was in a nice neighborhood.

These people take money that should go to people in need. That is why I give to organizations that work with those in need.

Begging may not be the world's oldest profession but it's got be a close second. I don't know which is worst begging to make a living or begging to support an alcohol or drug habit. Whatever, it's a smarmy life style.

I have far more respect for the ones rifling through my dumpster to pull out aluminum cans so they can take them in for recycling. At least they are EARNING something.

Although, I do get mad when I see them leave the cardboard containers on the ground after pulling them out of the trash and removing the empties.

lol, my girl! I bet she's got a small fortune stashed away in that bank. If she's smart, she'll invest it.

Perhaps the IRS needs to put tax collectors on street corners to ensure they pay their fair share. Lemme see, self-employment taxes are collected at double the rates of income taxes. She better have a damned good accountant! lol

Hey, if these gas and food prices go up much higher, I might have to horn in on Megan's turf. ; )

I was wondering if these people fight over good street corners like some drug dealers do. I bet there is competition for good spots.

I remember in St. Louis seeing a street musician in front of Busch Stadium, before a game. Now that I think about it that must of been quite a fight, to get that spot. He was cleaning house entertaining people waiting to get in. Maybe its a rotation of some sorts.

I never give money to panhandlers for that very reason. I aknowledge them and let them know that I have no money for them but there are shelters and food pantries right down the street.

Panhandling is illegal in a lot of places for this very reason. Too many times I have been taken advantage of. Now, that doesn't mean that all homeless people are panhandlers. It also doesn't mean that the homeless don't need shelters and food pantries.

My Gawd! How gullible can people be? I can clearly see that this "Meagan" is very well fed, and has good physical/ dental hygiene. You really aren't doing youself or the "panhandler" any type of service by giving them money. Chances are they'll blow it on drugs or booze. That girl is young and strong enough to get a decent job.

I hope this expose' will have people to get hip to that sh*t, & not be an enabler. Being from NY, I don't give one thin dime to they're lame excuses of having nothing to eat.

I always tell them if that's the case, that I'll treat them to a restaurant, and they always refuse and opt for the money. Which I won't part with, and I tell them to get lost then. Well if any of you feel all that altruistic, and benevolent.

Give to you're local house of worship or charity that really needs it. Not to these scammers, and con artist's...

I swear I have seen the girl in this video all over the world. She asked me to help buy a ticket in Heathrow Airport, and in New Orleans her sister was sick, and she needed money to get gas in LA.

It wasn't really. They just looked alike.

If you assume all beggars are liars, you will save yourself some money and not be an enabler.

But one of them might be the real thing...

Mark Twain said your conscience would rag you about helping beggers, whichever way you chose. So you lose either way.

But he thought losing on the side of kindness was better.

Here's another old saying:"Rather to be safe, with pocket change than to be sorry, and taken for a sucker." (Btw, I believe it was that same girl you've met at Heathrow Airport, and that she rooked you outta some billfold in the process.) She gets around you know...

;o)

You just made that up.

One time during about a 1.5 year period while I was an undergrad in college years ago, I had the same guy pull the same line on the three times on campus.

The first time he started this fake crying routine, begging for money to get a bus ticket to a small town way up north on the U.S.-Canadian border. When it became apparent I wasn't going to give him any money and a girl was coming through the hallway door, he suddenly lost his tears and was trying to get rid of me so he could pull his routine on her.

He tried the same thing two more times. The third time, I just went off on him, and he was stunned. Never saw him again.

I don't see panhandlers where I live. This town has lots of small churches and charities, the schools always collect for the needy as well. The closest I can think of can't really be called a panhandler and it was in St. Louis, as opposed to my own little nook of Missouri. Ehhh, I suppose I'll see a few of them when I go to London.

Doesn't work as well in smaller cities and towns where people recognize you. Here in Las Vegas, so many new people are here on a daily basis with money in their pockets, it's easy pickings -- too easy!

I remember watching an episode of King of the Hill about this once. Yeah, in a small place (only about 20,000 people before the college kids get into town- they gave us a world record in drinking at one point) its gotta be tougher to pull it off.
