To the public, these men are members of a familiar fraternity, presented tens of thousands of times on television and radio as "military analysts." Hidden behind that appearance of objectivity, though, is a Pentagon information apparatus that generates favorable news coverage of the administration's wartime performance.

    I know the article is long, but it gives a telling account of how the administration has been able to manipulate media coverage of the Iraq war.

      The Pentagon's use of military analysts to create favorable news coverage is really using the military's Psyche-ops on American Citizens. I've been lamenting for years about the loss of the free press. Perhaps more will join the fight to re instate the FCC rule that any one owner can not own more than one media outlet in a given market. I maintain there is no free press unless it's an independent press. And the free press was perceived by the founders as the 4th estate of a free republic.
