Posted by: namecritic 7 months, 3 weeks agoThe record and movie industry do everything they can to be sure no one is copying their music and movies.The AP has even tried to say copying anything they write, even if you attribute the source, is a copyright violation. Now some bloggers seem to want to follow their lead when it comes to the words they type into their blogs.

You certainly CAN copyright things that are to be publicly displayed, AND protect their value through the law.
Plenty of advertisements, for example, on billboards.

I think it is almost impossible to not copy what others have written or ideas they've come up with. How much originality is there? If someone coins a term or phrase and everyone starts to use it, at what point does it become common?
If I write something catchy in a blog and a paid writer uses it in an article they post should I get credit?
I think the author of the article makes a great point that if you copy someone give them credit and show the link.
