Let us memorize our Constitution. Put it in every hotel room and school, every vehicle visor, backpocket, street corner, subway car, airplane, glove-box, lunchbox and mailbox. Let us open Senate with a reading from the Bill of Rights. Let us remember that the government works for us, and that it must be about more than self-perpetuation...

    Good plan. Great article.

It would do us all well to know the Constitution and Bill of Rights and remember that the Govt works for us not we work for the Govt.

Also correct (to paraphrase the article); without education we become a lynch mob.

I hope all that read this truly read and understand. We as a nation have let it slowly fall through our fingers. As a nation we need to ban together and retrieve what we have lost before it falls to the ground and shatters. We need to gain control back of our government and remind them that they work FOR us, we absolutely do not work for THEM. We need to stop this ridiculous arguing over who's right and who's wrong and work together for a common ground. A true relationship requires honesty, trust, and a little give and take. We will never satisfy 100% of the population, but we can absolutely find a common ground that all should be satisfied with.

Excellent resolution. I especially like making the Constitution so readily available to so many. I won't make a resolution to memorize the Constitution because I, like most, seem to fail to deliver, but I should. We all should, and we should place it close to our hearts. As a matter of fact, my family is coming this year for Christmas. I think the best gift I could give them is to at least read the Bill of Rights to them. I won't be around much longer. Who knows, someday they might look back on the event and say, "that was worthwhile". Knowing that I tried will be worthwhile to me.

The Constitution is a bit much to memorize. I have a bookmark set to:

          http://www.usconstitution.net/xconst.html

So I can pop it up and refer to it whenever I can't exactly remember some part.

Merry X-mas and happy new years is the good thought but I will bring it down a peg. Being pragmatic we have a better chance at preventing the eventual volcano in Yellowstone from erupting then having the next year bright with Bush.

I gave up on this administration and the citizens who accept him. They deserve bankruptcy and the continued misery of the Iraq war that they accept and refuse to correct. I guess for now I blame our cowardly Democrats for being elected with a mandate and they acquiesced to Bush's every whim. Hard to have happy thoughts with Bush, Cheney and their crowd. May Pelosi and Reid have a miserable holiday season.

Very good article, I agree. However the citizens who accept and vote for blatant anti-constitutionalists are still here and easily duped into fanatically supporting fascist candidates.

My wife and I have a copy of the constitution of the United States of America hanging on the wall of our den. We also have the pledge of alegiance in there.

I think it's a good idea to re-read the constitution and remember how many fought for the ideas behind it.

Unfortunately there are those in government who hate the constitution because of the very freedoms it gives.

Stay aware stay ahead, let it slide and fall behind.

          Thanks populist.

Many Americans will say that the government and courts will no longer recognize the Constitution and, because of this, there is no sense in their using it. Please remember that the Constitution is the Supreme Law of this Land, and ALL public officers, judges and politicians have sworn oaths, and are bound thereby, to support and uphold the Constitution. Those public officers who deny the Constitution commit insurrection and sedition to it and, further, commit treason against the Sovereign Citizens.

What is a Sovereign? If you don't know, It is very important to look it up. take a look at what you DON'T know, even though you pretend you do.

This may be off topic but I have not been following the debates of the presidential hopefuls, why does mot someone ask the simple question af all candidates, that question should be do you agree to live by and uphold the constitution of the United States of America. It could be a simple yes or no question and it would be answered in front of the puplic. To me not living by or trying to change the constitution is an act of treason and should be treated as such.

Might I suggest that the following link is readily accessible from your desktop and browser's personal toolbar.

            http://www.usconstitution.net/const.html

If you want to take the time and have access to a printer and a copier you might want to download a copy of the Constitution from either:

            http://www.gpoaccess.gov/constitution/index.html

            or

            http://www.constitutioncenter.org/explore/TheU....

and then distribute the copies you make yourself! You could even get fancy and make small booklets to hand out or if independently wealthy you could simply purchase the pocket-sized booklets from the

            http://www.shopconstitutioncenter.com/shop_deta...

leather bound for $18.99 each or from the GPO at

            http://bookstore.gpo.gov/actions/GetPublication...

for $2.75 each with quantity discounts available!

A fine, fine article. Would that everyone in America could read it and act accordingly. Certainly, whenever I write my elected representatives, I "direct" them to whatever action I desire - I do not beg, plead, wheedle, or whine. They work for ME (and maybe you) and I think perhaps DIRECTING them instead of ASKING them is a subtle reminder to them of that fact. No doubt it annoys them - at least privately. Too bad.

If you want to see at least SOME of the promise in this article come true, you had better be voting for Dr. Paul or some other non-wacky candidate that has pledged to return to OUR Constitution. Personally, I plan to write his name on the ballot next November if it isn't already printed there. I am CERTAINLY not voting for Hillary, Rudy, Barry, or ... well, we'll see what happens, but so far I don't see much appeal in any of the others either.

No doubt the neocons feel there should have been one more clause at the very end of the Constitution, one that reads; in case of a terrorist attack on U.S soil all the above becomes invalid.

i think this is a great idea... the Constitution IS a little long to memorize tho...

EVERYBODY should be familiar with the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the Declaration of Independence.

when i was in school, in order to pass 8th grade you had to pass a test on the US Constitution, the Mo Constitution, and be able to recite the preamble to the Declaration of Independence....
