Oct. 14, 2007, 3:38 p.m."This historic document may well represent the first time in the history of America that this large a group of U.S. senators attempted to demonize a private citizen by lying about his views. As such, it is a priceless memento of the folly of (Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid and his 40 senatorial co-signers," reads the eBay announcement.

Oct. 14, 2007, 3:39 p.m."I would like to issue this challenge to Senator Reid and the 41 senators who signed his letter. You say you support the military. You say you're big, and you think it's patriotic, and that I was unpatriotic. Well, I would like for each of you, Senator Reid, and the 40 senators who signed, to match whatever the winning bid is. Show us your support for the U.S. military by all 41 of you pro-military people, Democrats in the Senate, match whatever the winning bid is and send that amount to the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation," Limbaugh said. Limbaugh sits on the board of the foundation that has dispersed $29 million for scholarships.

It's laughable that Rush Limbaugh, of all people, would dare have the audacity to challenge the patriotism and military support of the Democrats who signed that letter, especially when many of those Democratic signatories boast a more impressive military record than Limbaugh's pathetic excuse for a deferment. For example, here are the names of just some of the Democrats whose support for the military Limbaugh is challenging:

TOM CARPER (D-DE) served as a Naval Flight Officer in the U.S. Navy from 1968 until 1973, during which he saw active duty in Vietnam, flying submarine hunting airplanes. He remained in the U.S. Naval Reserve for another 18 years and retired with the rank of Captain.

Oct. 15, 2007, 2:48 a.m.DANIEL INOUYE (D-HI) was at the Pearl Harbor attack as a medical volunteer. In 1943, when the Army dropped its ban on Japanese-Americans serving in the Army, Inouye curtailed his premedical studies and enlisted in the Army. He was assigned to the Nisei 442nd Regimental Combat Team, which became the most highly-decorated unit in the history of the U.S. Army. During the World War II campaign in Europe he received the Bronze Star and also the Distinguished Service Cross, which was later upgraded to the Medal of Honor. While recovering from World War II wounds in Percy Jones Army Hospital, Inouye met Bob Dole, then a fellow patient. Although he lost his right arm in the war, he remained in the military until 1947, discharged with the rank of captain. Due to the loss of his arm, he abandoned his plans to become a surgeon and returned to college to study political science on the GI Bill.

Oct. 15, 2007, 2:51 a.m.Compare this to Rush Limbaugh's pathetic record of service.
http://www.snopes.com/military/limbaugh.asp
"When Rush Limbaugh first came of draft age he held a 2-S (college deferment) Selective Service System classification as a student at Southeast Missouri State University in 1969-70, but after he dropped out of college at the end of his first year he no longer qualified for a student deferment and was subject to being reclassified as 1-A (available immediately for military service) and drafted. Selective Service System records show that Limbaugh was reclassified as 1-Y, which effectively ended his draft eligibility. What was the physical problem that disqualified Rush Limbaugh from the draft?"

Oct. 15, 2007, 2:05 p.m.ROFLMAO, how typical of the right who SAY they support the troops to slander and slur anyone of them who believes we should leave Iraq by calling them phony soldiers. Its another example of the type of support they give. Sending troops into battle without body armor, sufficient ammi OR sufficient armored trucks is another example of support in word only.

Oct. 14, 2007, 3:41 p.m.Since the original show, Limbaugh has several times repeated that he was referring to one man: disgraced, convicted former Army soldier-tu... Jesse Macbeth. Macbeth falsely claimed to have participated in war crimes in Iraq and received a Purple Heart, but in reality, he was discharged after only 44 days of service, never placing a foot in Iraq.
Macbeth was sentenced to five months in prison for fraudulently collecting more than $10,000 in benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Oct. 14, 2007, 10:29 p.m.Yes he has claimed to refer to one soldier who he has refered to only in the plural tense and only refering to him 2 minuites after the "phoney soldiers" comment. Get your reality straight ******. Neocons can't handle the truth.
