Terrorism: Six Years On, How Is War Against Al-Qaeda Progressing? »
Posted by: Radiofreeeuropa 12 months agoAfter the attacks of September 11, 2001, the United States claimed a series of successes in battling Al-Qaeda: toppling the Taliban in Afghanistan; destroying training bases the Islamic regime had allowed Al-Qaeda to operate there; and arresting key aides to Osama bin Laden, including Khalid Sheik Muhammad, the alleged mastermind of the terrorist a

Yes i fully understand the reasons for us being in Afghanistan but why we ever went to Iraq which was devoid of Al-Qaeda until the aftermath, baffles me. OIL have to put a lot of thought as to the reason why.

Things aren't going as well as our "leaders" would have us believe. How do you deflect the hatred engendered by the high-handed strike against Iraq? The problems this administration have caused will not go away at the end of his term. We will be the targets for decades. People do not easily forget or forgive the tyrants who have cost them their way of life. No water for many of the Iraqis. Electricity for maybe six hours per day. Taking your life in your hands to go buy groceries. Members of your family dead. No, we will not be soon forgiven for this atrocity that has been committed in our name.

Even I have to admit that things are not going well. Al-Qaeda, together with their Liberal, Democrat, and Leftist allies/supporters here in the United States, are doing much better than expected. This is probably due to the President's blindness in not recognizing the home-grown terrorists for what they are, and dealing with them appropriately.

Are you permanently delusional or just temporarily blinded by your own ignorance?

tsk tsk tsk. What can anyone possibly say about an un-American remark like yours? Best to just let it stand on its own.

Cherev,
I suppose I'm a leftist in your opinion, though I would have identified myself as a centerist before the Bush autocracy and have supported some libertarians (real conservatives) in the past.
This exchange with conservative former Congressman Mickey Edwards sums up why Bush is the enemy of real conservatives better than I could.

To equate opposition to Bush's cronyism, incompetence, destruction of the balance of powers in government, and thinly disguised subversion of the constitution is not support for terrorism. The vast majority see Bush's disastrous uninformed policies as creating far more recruits to organizations like Al Qaeda than all the militant mullahs combined ever dreamed of.

Now that he has illegally created an autonomous all powerful executive position that unconstitutionally subverts the balance of power between the branches of government allowing the president to act as legislative and jurisprudence, how do you feel about, say, Barack Obama or the Clintons now inheriting that power?
The founders of this nation established and upheld their self evident truths while fighting a superpower monarchy capable of doing far more harm than the goon squad of alqaeda. I know what Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, and Paine would think of Bush policy. Do you?

The president has license to spy on us and habeas corpus has been suspended, so believe me cherev, the president is doing his damnedest to round up those leftist dissenters. As for you, you're a complaining, sniveling, whimpering malcontent. Spew your venom elsewhere.

It appears that for some, the problem with Hitler is that he wasn't aggressive enough.

Just think of how much more we could be doing if we had kept our eyes on the prize and not gone into Iraq. All the money and lives that we have wasted. Iraq is a quagmire that there is no good way out of. If we leave, Shiite militias and Iran takes over, if we stay just more of the same violence and no political progress as we've seen over the last 5 years.
Great post Radio!
