Recent racist attacks in Germany and the publication of the European Fundamental Rights Agency's report into rising violence against minorities have again highlighted the problem of racially motivated crime in Europe.

Violence must not be allowed to flourish in Europe. The NPD party in Germany is a classic example of a group inspired by hatred and destruction. However, it would seem that the CDU is unwilling to impose any sort of ban on them. I can understand their logic. After all, ban one group, what assurance does one have that other, less radical groups would not also be banned?
Racially motivated crimes are as much a problem in Europe as they are here in the US. Anything that can be done to stop the violence must be. Having said that, we do not need to trample the Constitution or basic human rights to end violence.

Davis gives a good glimpse at the difficulty in fighting hate groups. Exposure of their core beliefs is the best remedy. We have only to look back to the rise of Nazism to see what happens when you treat the disease too little and too late.

World War II and Nazism is not so far away in history that is cannot repeat itself. People do not remember and are choosing to forget the war and what it did. It annihilated an entire peoples from the face of the earth. Europeans still do not understand democracy because they have both monarchy and autocracy ruling at the same time. This opens the doors for another Hitler to move in.
