Posted by: nowsourcing 1 year, 1 month agoA mother and her son were booted off a plane after a flight attendant became upset when the 19-month-old kept saying "Bye, bye plane" as the aircraft prepared for liftoff. Poor guys were just stranded for an 11-hour delay. Job stress, flight attendant?

I was going to comment about the stupidity I've seen among the TSA personnel as well, but obviously this airline attendant needs some serious talking to. Common sense obviously has left her some time ago.
BTW: If you go to your airport, and your friends name is Jack, DO NOT say "Hi Jack!", and if the end of your shoelace is frayed, most of us take a bic lighter and singe it back. Do NOT Do that in a airport. Ask a flight attendant to do it for you. You'll obviously have your flight delayed in either case.
I saw one man miss his flight because he had a bottle of water with him. He had brought it from home because he didn't want to get ripped off at the airport. I guess after the strip search he'll pay $3 a bottle for water next time? He even offered to take a drink and let them sip it!

well, in the world of airline competition and consolidation, things like this could make commuters think twice and pick another airline.

"You can't stop a toddler from cooing during the security announcement."
And 9/11 is invoked yet again as an excuse for the treatment the passenger received. So does that mean that now we have to be afraid of all babies? Does al Qaeda have baby bombs?
Airline, you dun wrong. Please apologize.

I think its really the individual flight attendant's issue, but yes, they must assume responsibility.

Customer service I think has become a thing of the past. That phrase is just lip service now used by the Big Corps to give the appearance that they care about their customer base.
They don't care about you as a person THEY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY! We are talking about cold, impersonal corporate entities that employ tens of thousands of people in the pursuit of growing their profit margin.

It's so hard to believe that some people can be so rude. If the flight attendant doesn't get fired, I certainly hope she receives a very severe reprimand.

My daughters make fun of me because I won't fly in America. I won't fly, because our Airlines are suffering from the Greyhound Bus syndrom. I would have that Flight Attendent fired, and every time she made a dime on her new job I would get 9 cents of it.

you raise a good point. The other passengers should be compensated as well.

it's difficult to understand how people can be so cruel to children.

Actually there is an easy answer to kids like this and the cryers and the kids that kick the backs of chairs for 3 hours..they have it on every plane..two simple words..DUCT TAPE..
I heard that on a liberal radio show that somehow snuck onto my usual radio channel in San Diego..they were already discussing the babies crying (5 or 6 or the rugrats) for the entire flight back from Hawaii to San Diego and one kid kicking the seat back for 4 hours....and someone called with that solution...LOLActually there is an easy answer to kids like this and the cryers and the kids that kick the backs of chairs for 3 hours....they have it on every plane....two simple words....DUCT TAPE....

...they also asked what are parents doing bringing babies on redeye flights when they know most of the other passengers are trying to sleep and they bring crying babies on the flight....how inconsiderate of everyone else....
and if benadryl isn't the answer, maybe Rum and Coke? Or a sleeping pill.....

You are right DUCT TAPE is the answer-just tape that b@tch of a stewardess' mouth shut and everything would have been fine. This child was not kicking anyone or screaming or crying-he was just speaking! I am SO sorry this chick was tired from her 11 hours stuck in the airport-but most of the people on that plane including the kid and his mom were stuck for that same time period. It was a one hour flight! This woman not only humiliated the innocent mother, but she inconvenienced everyone on that plane by making it turn around and start all over again! And WHY-because SHE was in a bad mood. Clearly this witch does not have what it takes to do her job properly. She should be canned-especially since she apparently LIED to the pilot and told him the woman had THREATENED her in order to get him to turn the plane around.

Have you been using these, heavily, in combination?
I'm sure it thwarts your id, but you can't just drug and duct-tape infants because they irritate you. People make the national news for that kind of crap.

Somebody on this flight needed to be medicated, but it wasn't the baby.
I also love the flight attendant's assumption that the mom would have "Baby Benadryl" with her--doesn't EVERYBODY drug their children?
And hey, wouldn't having a bottle of Benadryl be contrary to the TSA's War on Liquids?

If a 3 year old child starts talking like that, I'd want to get off too, thinking that maybe the kid heard someone at his home talking? Maybe the terrorist at his home said, "You put this in your luggage and bye bye plane." Who knows? This was obviously not so, but I'd rather kick her and her child off than have them trying to put the plane back together later from debris.
If you're going to fly in this age of unidentifiable terrorists who think nothing of bombing themselves, you better shut up yourself AND your kids. To a flight attendant, it just isn't funny. More people with unruly kids are being chucked off lately. That's a good thing. Drive next time.

Er, this was a 19-month old. You don't just "shut up" a kid of that age. Of course, if you're a responsible parent, you will TRY to do so...but everyone who has raised a kid of that age knows it can't be guaranteed.
Apparently, you've never been responsible for a 19-month old.

In light of your paranoia, I think that, if you want to fly, you should get your pilot's license. Or maybe just stay inside your house swathed in bubble wrap.
Yikes! You sound like you would be in favor of making everyone fly nude so that they can't smuggle any "bad" stuff on the plane.
And, quite frankly, a 19 month old that has been stuck in a airport for 11 hours just saying "bye bye plane" is absolutely, definitely NOT any "unruly kid">

I think it is so wrong I have a horror story but not as bad as to have to get off the plane. Who do they think they are? It isn't fair. They should be working on an airline if they can't handle themselves. Kids will be kids and he wasn't being bad. I try not to fly if I don't have too. I am on the family's side all the way.

I have to say this attendant must be on some bad crack, she should not only be fired but they should fly her to a remote airport and make her sit there for eleven hours. Than let the mother and baby say bye, bye to her while they get on the plane and head where ever they please for free. lol

I can't help but think that the Boston Tea Party was held over less than an outrage as this.
If the story took place as the article describes it, I'd have been proud to lead a walkout of every damn passenger on that plane...even if it would have cost me my fare and my flight to do so.

All they have to do is not allow kids to fly. I would much rather enjoy my trips without all of the noise and running around.

I think the flight attendant should be fired. There is absolutely no excuse for the way she acted. The mother and her baby were doing nothing wrong. The stewardess told the pilot that the mother threatened her. Other passengers have backed the mother's story. Not even an apology from this flight attendant would make things right because of the lies she told to the pilot. I also think the flight attendant's name should be made public...of course, she will only continue to lie. What an ego she has...I hope it is delated flatter than the proverbial pancake by now. The mother and her little boy finally got on another flight, and the little boy threw a tantrum, but THAT flight attendant got him juice and crackers and he fell asleep. What a difference in people...the second flight attendant obviously has common sense whereas the first one has nothing but an over-rated opinion of herself.
