  How do you feel about the U.K.'s growing police state charbarred?

    It's hard to say...I was once robbed and beaten, so I'm kinda happy to have the police around most of the time. On the other hand they are overdoing it a bit. The plan is to have all CCTV cameras be able to recognize license plates soon and have computers track your every movement. Again, it's done to tackle crime, but knowing that someone is watching your every move is eerie.

      thanks for the perspective. police are great tools for law and order when used properly. other than official police or government PR statements, are there any independent studies that qualify the efficacy of this new level of surveillance?
