A senior police officer has said he fears the spread of CCTV cameras is leading to "an Orwellian situation".

      It's hard to say...I was once robbed and beaten, so I'm kinda happy to have the police around most of the time. On the other hand they are overdoing it a bit. The plan is to have all CCTV cameras be able to recognize license plates soon and have computers track your every movement. Again, it's done to tackle crime, but knowing that someone is watching your every move is eerie.
