When Reagan coined the phrase "evil empire," he was referring to the USSR, & I basically agreed with him that the USSR needed to be contained & checkmated. But today it is the US that is widely perceived as an evil empire, & world forces are gathering to stop us.

one path, the path of war and militarism, will lead this country on the route to further terrorist attacks, restricted liberties and economic ruin....

Despite numerous egregious offenses on which the Congress could easily draft Articles of Impeachment, only a few honorable House members have chosen to follow their duty and seek the removal of the Vice President. Our nation's chief Executive is bringing dishonor and bloodshed upon the US. The terrorist attacks he claims to have stopped have merely shifted to our current and former allies. Our position in the world as a respected leader is weakened as long as GW is in command.

"only a few honorable House members have chosen to follow their duty"

i think you hit the nail on the head there. it's probably been like that for years...only a few honorable members of congress ever follow the constitution.

Americans must let their elected officials know they have had enough. We deserve liberty only when we demand liberty and honor from our elected officials. How did we become so stupid and complacent as a country? It's shameful.

LMAO@ This. You know why the the view of America has really changed. Morons like those at this Anti-USA site Populist America flooding the net with so much bullcrap people eventually think "well hell maybe they are".

Now when you look at the net, and look at the perception of ones country, looks like EVERY countries people pretty much can't stand their government either. The title of this is "Evil Empire". Let me guess thats based on the war in Iraq like every thing else you morons post, based on bashing Bush and making him take the fall for every thing, despite the fact you never provide truth, or fact, just opinion you push off as fact for one.

Secondly, lets just say Iraq is the point on why we are evil, 100,000 people have been killed since 2003. Thats the REAL stat. Now made up one. Last year 100,000 dissidents turned up missing in Iran, last year nearly 1.8million missing in China, nearly 3million in Sudan, prior to our invasion 20,000 a yr in Iraq killed.

I wonder if it is possible for concerned citizens on a grass-roots, local level to engage impeachment proceedings against their representatives in the House if they offend the interests of their constituents.

The world definitely views America as the new aggressor on the world stage. Very sad yet very true.

I keep thinking about Ron Pauls statement last night that truely ring true. Republicans of the past did not promote wars and a world policeman mentality. How did they evolve into a party of war? I thought they were for fiscal responsibility, less government involvement into private lives. What the hell happened to the Republicans? Is it that their own conservative right is now in power and is corrupting their own idioms?

he clearly understands the real cause and effect of America's aggressive foreign policy.

It seems that all of you maroons forget that we have been attacked many times in the past 20 years including twice at the WTC.....once by Saddam and his pals and once by al Queda and Osama....it is not a missed point that they both went after the World Trade Center and that the people arrested and in jail for the first one told the Clinton Regime that the next time they would come back in planes.....Clinton ignored that warning and did not pass it on....and of course, the two bombings of the same place had no ties at all, except maybe that the people who flew into the WTC got training in Iraq at Salman pak......

                    Patent nonsense.

Go back and read the papers from the summer of 01. The current administration knew full well the threats involved with Al Qaida but failed to take further action - instead they focused on developing the crackpot missile defense system.

Thats right, Dumbyah liked the idea of pulling Reagan's STAR WARS blue prints out of the cellar, despite about a .5% success rate.

For all you know, Rummy was still talking on the bat phone with Saddam on a regular basis in '01.

I recall that the "Silly Party" took all of the "W" keys off every typewriter and computer in the White House. Now these Happy Folks want everyone to believe that Good Old Bill Clinton performed excellently in advising the new administration. SORRY, it just doesn't pass the sniff test.

When Ronald Reagan coined the phrase "evil empire" he was referring to the Soviet Union. Today it can easily refer to the Bush administration. Evil to the core and getting worse. Where are the honorable politicians? Where is the call for impeachment? It seems nobody wants this gang of lawbreakers impeached but the people. Come on you Washington insiders, listen to us.

                              don't be silly.

                              actually, that's every single day.

and - every single day is bash the democrats too. virtually the entire government is a fraud and continually violates their oaths to support and defend the constitution.

This country has gone on the path of militarism, socialism and centralization of power far too long...

that's the sad truth - no matter what you say.

Impeach, or it's JEB BUSH in 2012! And he'll KNOW how to use the enlarged martial law powers.

Republican plan? Set off a small dirty bomb in the US, declare martial law, have Blackwater go door to door and shoot anyone who disagrees.

                                Paranoid?

Actually it could be done right now...

                                Diminish executive powers!!!

From the article: As Andrew Bacevich, author of The New American Militarism, puts it: "None of the Democrats vying to replace President Bush is doing so with the promise of reviving the system of check and balances.... The aim of the party out of power is not to cut the presidency down to size but to seize it, not to reduce the prerogatives of the executive branch but to regain them."

And that is why it must be up to us, the populace, to make the changes. We must insist on impeachment. Perhaps a Constitutional Convention with attendees drawn at random from a list of interested people. NO POLITICIANS ALLOWED!!

Thomas Jefferson said, "The tree of Liberty must from time to time be refreshed with the blood of patriots and tyrants."

" The American people must make the decision to dismantle both the empire that has been created in their name and the huge (still growing) military establishment that undergirds it."

Easily said. What is your game plan, and what are you willing to do and to risk to make it happen?

Do you suppose the military-industrial complex will go gently into that good night? Think again. Make serious inroads towards threatening the status quo and you should be ready to be (as so many activists have been) beaten, arrested, imprisoned on false charges, possibly killed.

If we would leave S. Korea, Germany, Japan, and all our other commitments how long would they remain free? Should we care?

If you will note: corrective actions are being taken by the American people through their representatives. If they don't get it right then new ones will be voted in. But each one of them should understand that they are Americans first and not republican... populists first. And in that regard they are to do what is right for their country-not their party. They are also to think long-term not just short term which is a problem for many. Which leads to some questions. Is it better to fight a small war today than a large war tomorrow? If it is wrong for the U.S. to be cozy with dictators like Saddam Hussein is it wrong to try and bring democracy to a country when we see the error of our ways?

We also have to clean up the environment in and around those bases as well, and not leave that to the countries.

The Kübler-Ross model describes, in five discrete stages, the process by which people deal with grief and tragedy.

                                            The stages are:

                                            1. Denial - The initial stage: "We are making progess."

                                            2. Anger : "How dare you do this to me?!" (either referring to God, oneself, or anybody perceived, rightly or wrongly, as "responsible")

                                            3. Bargaining : "Just one more surge."

                                            4. Depression : "The war is lost."

                                            5. Acceptance : "I know Iraq will be a better place"
